ஒரு திருமணத்தை  அரசு சார்-பதிவாளர் அலுவலகங்களில் பதிவு செய்வது தற்போதய கால கட்டத்தில் அவசியத்தேவையாக மாறி விட்டது. பதிவு செய்து அரசு திருமணச்சான்றிதழ் பெறாத திருமணங்கள் சட்ட ரீதியாக அங்கீகரிக்கப்படாது என்கிற நிலையை நாம் அடைந்து விட்டோம். தமிழ்நாடு திருமணப் பதிவுச்சட்டம் - 2009 இன் படி, திருமணத்தை பதிவு செய்யாமல் இருப்பது தண்டனைக்குரிய குற்றமாகும். உண்மையில், குடிமக்களின் திருமணங்கள் முறைப்படுத்தப்படுவதும், ஆவணப்படுத்தப்படுவதும் , சமூகத்திற்கு  நல்லது தான். பல முறைகேடுகளை தடுப்பதற்கும் , பெண்களும்  ஆண்களும் தமக்குரிய சட்ட  உரிமைகளை எளிதில் பெறுவதற்கும் இது உதவும்.  எழுபது வயதைக் கடந்த முதியவர்களுக்குக்கூட இன்று திருமனச் சான்றிதழ் தேவைப்படுகிறது. வெளிநாட்டில் வசிக்கும் ஒரு நபர் , தமது பெற்றோர்களை தம்முடன் வசிக்க அழைத்துக்கொள்ள விரும்பினால், அவரது பெற்றோர்கள்தான் என்பதை நிறுவ, பெற்றோர்களின்  திருமணச் சான்றிதழ் சமர்ப்பிக்கப்பட வேண்டியது அவசியமாகி விட்டது. குழந்தைகளை பள்ளியில் சேர்ப்பதற்கும் பெற்றோர்களின் திருமணச் சான்றிதழ் கோரப்படுகிறது. குடும்ப அடையாள அட்டையில...
