Register Marriage

Marriages that take place without religious marriage rituals are called self-respect marriages. Self-respect marriages performed by Hindu couples are legally recognized. On 27 November 1967, the Self-respect Marriage Amendment Act was passed in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and received the President's assent on 28 January 1968. It was added as an amendment to Section 7(A) of the Hindu Marriage Act - 1955 Act. Father Periyar, a social reformer who lived in Tamil Nadu E.V.Ramasamy is known as the pioneer of the Self-Respect Marriage Act, according to which two Hindus of the same caste or of different castes could marry without any religious ceremony. No religious priest is needed to conduct these marriages. There is no need to tie a thaali or mangalsutra. Such marriages can be registered in the offices of Government Registrar's offices under Section 7 (A) of the Hindu Marriage Act - 1955 and obtain a Government Marriage Certificate. மதங்களின் திருமணச்  சடங்குகளை தவிர்த்து விட்டு நடைபெறும் திருமணங்கள் சுய மரியாதைத் திருமணங்கள் என்று அழைக்கப்படுகின்றன. இந்து மதத்தைச்சேர்ந்த தம்பதியர்கள் மேற்கொள்ளும் சுயமரியாதைத் திருமணங்கள் சட்ட ரீதியாக அங்கீகரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. 1967 ஆம் ஆண்டு நவம்பர் 27 ஆம் தேதி, சுயமரியாதைத் திருமணத்திற்கான சட்டத் திருத்தம் தமிழ்நாடு சட்டப்பேரவையில் நிறைவேற்றப்பட்டு, 1968 ஜனவரி 28 அன்று , குடியரசுத் தலைவரின் ஒப்புதலைப்பெற்றது. இந்து திருமணச் சட்டம் - 1955  சட்டத்தின் 7(A) பிரிவில் திருத்தமாக இது சேர்க்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. தமிழ்நாட்டில் வாழ்ந்த சமூக சீர்திருத்தவாதி தந்தை பெரியார் என்ற ஈ.வே. ராமசாமி அவர்கள் சுய மரியாதைத் திருமணச் சட்டத்தின் முன்னோடி என அழைக்கப்படுகிறார்.இதன்படி , ஒரே ஜாதியைச் சேர்ந்த அல்லது வெவ்வேறு ஜாதிகளைச்சேர்ந்த இரண்டு இந்துக்கள் எவ்வித மதச் சடங்குகளும் இல்லாமல் திருமணம் செய்து கொள்ளலாம். இத்திருமணங்களை நடத்தி வைப்பதற்கு மத குருமார்கள் எவரும் தேவைப்படாது. தாலி கட்ட வேண்டிய அவசியமும் இல்லை. இத்தகைய திருமணங்களை இந்து திருமணச் சட்டம் - 1955 பிரிவு 7 (A) அடிப்படையில், அரசு சார்பதி...
