Register Marriage meaning

How is the word “Register Marriage” coined? One can see only in Reel life ( in cinemas) that marriages are conducted in front of the Registrar whereas in Real life this is not at all possible. Then how a marriage is registered in Registrar office? This can happen only when the marriages should have been conducted already before we come to register it in the Registrar office to obtain Government certificate  It’s our duty to submit all the proof of the marriage ceremony happened already with relevant supporting documents to the Registrar. The duty of the Registrar is to verify the documents submitted as per the Government Marriage Act/Law. In addition to the proofs we submit, the Registrar will take the photo of the couples (husband & wife) who are seeking for Government marriage certificate from the Registrar.
